Porcelain Dolls     2014 -2016

The Porcelain Doll series is comprised of ten life-size heads. Beauty, implicit in the Porcelain Doll Series, is based upon an ancient formula for beauty – the order of ‘unity in diversity.’

Porcelain dolls, prized for their perfectly modeled porcelain white form, exhibit a diversity of physiognomy in this series of sculpted heads. The varied features whether full lips, strong nose, or slanted eyes are beautiful in form. The cast resin of each sculpture is highlighted by the pearlescent auto body paint of the surface that reflects the quality of porcelain – a conceptual and physical affirmation of their beauty.  

Porcelain Dolls 1, 8, 9 and 10 are placed on stainless steel bases, with an audio component set off by a motion sensor. The audio repeats the phrase, “I am a porcelain doll”, interspersed with animal sounds and music.
