paeonia_beauty    2020

The paeonia_beauty series of pigment prints combines the peony dress, sewn with forty-eight handmade black taffeta peonies, and Olivia whose beauty matches the peony.
The site for the photographs is an abandoned historic farm. The peony is one of the oldest flowers to grow in our Canadian landscape. Its exotic beauty is found in our early homesteads, in distinct contrast to the harshness of our climate and the simplicity of the homestead lifestyle.
